Remembering Lana Ross

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lana Ross, a woman whose impact and passion for MTA are impossible to measure. She was, and forever will be, one of our brightest lights.

Lana’s dedication to this organization spanned generations. From the earliest days of MTA, through the Camp Creek Playhouse era, and into the home we know today, Lana was always there. On stage, in the director’s chair, behind the scenes, advocating for the arts, serving on the board, sweeping floors, or even parking cars. If something needed to be done, Lana did it. You could count on her. Always.

Her legacy at MTA is extraordinary. Several years ago, she was honored with our Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor given to only two individuals in MTA’s 50-year history, a testament to her unmatched devotion and impact. Lana not only carried the history of MTA, but she also embraced its future. She had an open mind, welcomed new ideas, and was endlessly supportive of moving the organization forward. She had more energy than the entire cast of Hamilton and could outwork just about anyone.

One of her most meaningful contributions is our children’s program, a program she started, nurtured, and poured her heart into for many years. Most recently, her extraordinary generosity made our bright, welcoming sign possible, the one that catches the eye of everyone who passes by and brings attention to the theatre community she helped build.

We will miss Lana dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in every performance, every child who finds confidence on our stage, and every moment of magic within these walls. Lana gifted our community the treasure that MTA is, and for that, we will be forever grateful.

We extend our sincerest condolences to her family. They have shared that a Celebration of Life party is being planned for March, and we will pass along the details as soon as we receive them.

At the family’s request, please visit our donation page and scroll to the bottom if you’d like to honor Lana’s legacy with a gift to MTA.
