Kids Summer WorkshopDoes your child have an interest in drama and the arts? Did he really enjoy being part of the school pageant? Does she get excited about performing in skits at church? Monticello Theatre Association is interested in helping your child explore their creative side during the MTA Kids Summer Workshop.

The MTA hosts two Kids Summer Workshops. Each workshop concludes with a final performance delivered by workshop participants.

  • Grades 1-3: (Length: 1 week)  June 4 - 8, 2018  from 9:30am to 11:30am with performance on June 8th, cost is $50. Led by Sherrie Hildreth

MTA is pleased to announce kids' summer workshops for this season. The sessions will be held at MTA’s Phoenix Theatre at 1406 N. Market St. Monticello.

Each workshop will include a variety of stage work in order to prepare a show for their closing. Students will work on stage presence, characterization and body movement as well as assisting with costumes, make-up, props and set design for their show. Participants will have a great time “putting on a play”. It can be a fun time to “be someone else” -- on a stage, with lights! Registration will be limited to 18 participants for each workshop.

Both closing programs will be open to the public.

This is your opportunity to be transported to a place where the formidable gloom of the Wicked Witch of the West is drowned by the overwhelming joy of the Munchkins and Ozians! You have never been to a Wizard of Oz experience like this one, with sprinkles of Western classical music and picturesque flags that unexpectedly draw the audience right into the middle of the action with each arrival into a new imaginary land. Of course, we hope that you’ll sing along with Dorothy and all of her chums as they make their way along the Yellow Brick Road; just make sure you’re on your best behavior as the Winkie Guards will be patrolling the aisles!
